World champion flag football quarterback Darrell Doucette said he was offended at the video to hype the sports for the US Olympics. It featured NFL quarterback Jalen Hurts throwing a football to ignite the Olympic flame at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The video also showed Hurts claiming that it was their turn with the debut of flag football in the 2028 LA Games.
Doucette said his employment was in jeopardy since it was his only interpretation of the video. Hurts seems to have made his desire known that he would be the signal caller for the defending world champions of flag football, Team USA, at the following summer Games.
However, Doucette made it plain that he had no plans to give up the position he had worked so hard to achieve. It was a position of relative (albeit dwindling) obscurity inside a football style distinct from the one he had spent years exporting to other nations.
World Champion Flag Football Quarterback Ready to Fight for Spot
Even if he and his fellow athletes have aspirations of Olympic greatness, Doucette claims he can handle the attention of NFL superstars trying to steal squad places. That the flag football mainstays will not go down quietly is all he wants Hurts and his like to know.

Not every big arm throws his helmet into the ring like Hurts. Under alternative conditions, Doucette would wholeheartedly support an all-star squad led by Burrow, as he admits. In 2019, he was ecstatic to see Burrow, Jefferson, and Chase guide Louisiana State University’s football team to the NCAA football national title, much like most others in New Orleans. Even Chase’s high school, where he first gained notoriety as a tackle football player, is near his home. The world’s players, including Doucette, are sure they can hold their own against the top NFL players.
Doucette supported the United States to the 2021 World Championship in Jerusalem, where they defeated Mexico 44-41 in the final, whether he tucked the ball to run it himself or passed it. That made it four straight global flag football championships for the United States.
At the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, Doucette was an integral part of the national team’s victory. In the summer of 2023, he was named the most valuable player after leading the United States to a perfect 7-0 victory in the Americas Continental championship game in Charlotte, North Carolina.
