In the past, Queen Elizabeth II was the patron of the Jockey Club for 68 years before she died in 2022. The organization now appointed the King and Queen as patrons. Both royals are honorary members of the club, with the King being a member since 1980 and the Queen beginning in 2015. In addition, Queen Camilla is the president of the Ebony Horse Club and patron of the National Stud.

Because of their shared passion for horse racing and breeding, the King and Queen Elizabeth II took over Queen Elizabeth II’s bloodstock holdings after her death. Thus, they became joint owners in February of last year.

Royal Ascot this summer was a prime example of this, as the King and Queen were seen celebrating Desert Hero’s victory in the King George V Stakes, their first appearance at the race.
