Bally’s Chicago attracted 100,000 visitors in the last month of the year. As a result, the casino revenue in December reached over $8.5 million. Also, it was around $900,000 higher than November. In addition, Bally’s Chicago has limited its operating hours to 20 daily since it opened on September 9. It started operating 24/7 on December 27.

Despite a record-breaking December, Bally’s Chicago has experienced slow but steady development since opening four months ago in the refurbished River North landmark. The Chicago casino maintained its position as the state’s number four earner and second in admissions among the fifteen casinos operating in the state in December, as reported by the Gaming Board. With 279,000 customers and $45.4 million in AGR, Rivers Casino Des Plaines dominated in both areas.

According to casino articles, adjusted total earnings from the state’s casinos topped $141 million, an increase of roughly $10.9 million, or 8.3 percent.

The project would have been the first casino in the city. In 2026, the long-term gambling establishment is due to launch. The Gaming Board extended the casino’s stay in its temporary location inside Medinah Temple by 12 months in October, allowing it to run for a maximum of three years.

Huehl and Schmid were the architects who created the landmark Medinah Temple, which the Shriners constructed in 1912. The facility has been the site of several events, including concerts, high school commencements, and the Shrine Circus, which takes place every year. Among the facility’s 1915 additions was a pipe organ weighing thirty thousand pounds.

According to gambling articles, the Shrine Circus was famous in the 1980s and 1990s when it ran for three weeks and attracted over 50,000 people. More people are using it now. Adjusted gross receipts, the amount retained after winners are distributed, came to $30.4 million since Bally’s Chicago opened in September. Medinah Temple attracted approximately 350,000 guests. Statistics from the Gaming Board show that over the past four months, this has generated over $3.1 million in local tax income and approximately $3.9 million in state tax revenue.

In 2023, the state’s casinos brought in over $1.5 billion in adjusted gross revenues, as reported by the Gaming Board.
